It’s been about a month since we changed the comic from b/w to color. The transition has involved more work but I feel that it has really added to the story.

Also I have a few new childrens books coming out in the next few months. I love working on books that help kids. The books I have been working on deal with autism. It has been a wonderful experience and a very humbling one as well.

patreonsmalladGood morning – or good day- depending on where you at. Today’s update is all about trust… or who do you trust?

We are also moving into the new month of our patreon campaign. A great way to support comics or other art projects. There is no obligations but there are some perks. In fact we had one lucky winner last month win an original copic piece of the Bean. I am giving away Free art each month to one lucky patreon. On a side note- I just finished scripting chapter 18 so the next book of the series is all scripted (including the cameos that were kickstarter rewards for book 5). It was no easy challenge, but I think they all work where they need to be. It will be fun to see how those pages flesh out.

Working on several pages this week. There is something exciting that color does for me as I push forward. It actually helps me see the pages as a finished project. This is good. I really enjoy where the story is going and it’s constantly changing. Adapting in it’s own way. The characters feel alive for me… weird, but it’s a reality.

I will be posting the next copic give away in a couple of weeks – it will go on patreon first. If you are also interested I am also doing more commission work these days. Including copic commissions (copic markers on bristol board – the size is 9×13 at the moment) and these are usually just a character or creature… The price for one is a 100. Dragons seem to be the most popular at the moment.

patreonsmallad I was sitting here looking at the title of the comic and realized that I have drawn over 646 pages of one story. I don’t plan to stop either. I am in awe over how this story has evolved and how I have grown as human being because of it. A tale of dishwasher, who now finds himself in a cold dark world carrying a sword that is fighting to control him.

The coloring has been a new motivator for me. I know the transition has been tough for some, but I also know that the story is soooo much better because of it. I don’t know where my future is on the books at the moment. (Don’t worry I am not stopping the story and it does have an ending) I just don’t know if I will be able to speed the timetable up or if I will be stuck at 2 pages a week (front and back) for a long time.

As you can see I am determined and I am not giving up. I really enjoy telling this tale. I love where it is going and I love that I am a part of it. I am also happy that I am able to share it with you. I am supper appreciative of how several of you are supporting it on a monthly basis. You are helping me find more time to keep it going. Thank you so much for what you are doing. You don’t have to I know, but I am so grateful that you do.  If i get this set up right I will be able to update the bean 5 times a week. 🙂 But that is going to take a little extra support from you as well. So for now, I can only manage one new page to the story and old page of the story colored.  I just have a family to feed:) I would though ask if you enjoy this tale to help share it. We can use all the help we can get.

I also am grateful for my supportive family. They have watched this tale grow and struggle. I am a lucky man to have them as they deal with late nights of me drawing comic pages and creating this wonderful tale.

Just got back from the festival of books. I am pretty worn out, but i still got the update up. It was a fantastic fun festival. Working on finishing the edits this week and hopefully in two weeks i will have abook ready for print. trav  ]]>

Sometimes… one just needs to enjoy the scenery.

Wondercon is now completed and the adventures move on. My next adventure is the LA Book Fair. Wondercon was wonderful and I am  very tired but extremely happy – I really enjoyed the wonderful spirit of the show and how things turned out. There were laughs, smiles and some tears of sorrow, joy and inspiration. I am soooo grateful to have had the opportunity to be there, to draw sketches and to talk about life and art. That is what it needs to be. That’s what makes a show wonderful. Thank you Wondercon team for making the show wonderful.

Book 4 is in edits and should be going to press at the end of the month as well.

HI ALL!

Well I launched the Kickstarter on Thursday of last week and in 12 hours we hit out initial goal. I am totally floored about the response so far on book 4. I am really excited about what is happening and where things are going. I was not expecting to hit the goal so quickly, but that only set us up for some really cool Stretch goals. I will release the stretch goals one at a time. The first stretch goal is a huge 18×24 in map of the broken moon. The same style as the tanner jones map. I want it to be exciting and look good. The really cool thing is that the goals will only get better. In fact I have something really exci

ting planed for the next one.

So please share – spread the word and lets make this adventure bigger and bigger. Your support has made this book what it is do far and I am very grateful for that.
